Tool Design: Transportation Approval
Gordon & Gordon Engineering performed design approval of a welded steel fixed adapter facility cart and its aluminum cover to move the fixed adapter for rocket segments of a commercial reusable single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle both indoors and outdoors of a manufacturing and integration complex located near the Kennedy Space Center.
Task involved the engineering oversight and involvement of Amobeo, a tool design prime contractor in Seattle, to support the requisite professional engineering approval of their technically acceptable stress analysis report and drawings for the tool designs as the Florida Engineer of Record.
The effort included material selection consultation, assembly consultation, drawing review and redlining, and detailed review of load cases and boundary conditions for the STAAD.Pro V8i finite element modeling used to generate loads of individual members and joints and classic hand analysis used to perform actual analysis of the structural margins to ensure that the design met safety and contractual requirements.
